It Rained Today

It Rained Today

A Poem by A sea person

It rained today,

wet ground

beneath my sneakers

as I walk home.

My headphone blaring,

loud music

drowning out the world.

I keep my hood up

a curtain

hiding my face from view

as I walk home.

My backpack is heavy,

lead weight,

on my back, shoulders.

Heavy feelings spread,

dull poison

through my veins

as I walk home.

Sleep is all I want;

quiet rest

is my only desire.

Not everyday is ever so

blank, unalive

as today seems to be

as I walk home.

Strange, but I’m not sure,

can’t figure,

why I’m so empty.

I see classmates but,

subdued eyes

won’t smile back

as I walk home.

Why the mood,

blue oblivion

in my thoughts?

Is it waking to the rain,

soft drops

on the window sill?

Is it losing my feelings,

vast chasms

where emotions were?

Is it just another day,

dull classes

sapping my strength?

No;

I don’t know the

cause, reason,

for this, today’s

morose, melancholy temper.

Probably the rain.

But it is nothing

of my own making.

Just a dull, empty feeling,

the feeling of sleep, or the lack thereof.

I suppose, should I sleep,

the feeling will flee.

Then this dull, empty feeling,

will not longer plague my day to death.

The rain drops patter

as I pause outside my door.

It is quiet behind their drip-drop sound

and I know I will find peace, feeling.

But only after the rain has gone.

How strange how people see and feel so different about things, incidents, weather - the rain makes you melancholy, brings you sad thoughts, dread feelings..

' don't know the / cause, reason, / for this, today's / morose, melancholy temper. / Probably the rain. '

i love the rain, it clings and cleanses, invigorates, torments to the thrill, is wonderful.. wrote a poem about it, cant remember what I called it.. duhh :-)

You write with extraordinary depth and power, quite simply but every word, or most, truly mean something.

A soft spring rain will put me to sleep. A thunderstorm brings fear. Everyone feels differnent when the rains come. Loved your poem.

See how music changes in a movie at the different aspects of rain.

Well done.

It's very difficult to write about rain, and not mention blue. I could see you, and feel the emotional weight, as well as the physical weight. Rain is probably one of the most written words in poetry. It also has produced some of the most profound poems. Rain..
