MidnightA Poem by JessShe feels like screaming But her throat is dry Deprived of ice water For at least an hour Or two or three or four...
She shivers But not from the cold central air everyone Insists on blasting Even though the weather today Isn't like how it was last week...
She's curled up in a ball In the far left corner of her room Silently rocking back and forth A slave to whatever is Running through her mind right now...
She's terrified.
Scared.
Completely Freaked Out.
She's treading new waters And the unknown ignites a fear From deep inside her- A fear of falling for him Of letting him in And handing over her heart Giving him the power to Shatter her.
Other fears rise To the surface Away from the dark abyss They've been hiding in:
She's terrified of opening her mouth And choking out the words That will change Everything Between them.
She's terrified of finding out That all she is to him Is a friend Nothing more- Never anything more.
She's freaked out Because things seem to be Going right for once And she has no idea How to handle it.
Not. One. Bit.
