MemoriesA Poem by Ramsha Ghofran
People say they remember time,
Time when it was young and free, Could run amongst the tall green grass, And leave everything to let it be. Time remembers when people thought, The sun circled the earth, Just like when I thought you were there, Better if you had not. It's always what they say, but why. Why when they are all that hurts, To love is painful, But I see a future at the end that lurks. Doth the Earth remember, What it felt like to be safe, In the hands of someone you have met, Whom you slowly begin to crave. Could eyes tell a poem worth the music, The melody that her cries foretell? Had her heartbeat missed a beat, Would the song still say the same? The mind's work of displeasure, Always seems to carve, A story to disfigure, And a life to curve and bend. Whose life this is, What do we know, Why we're here, nor where we go, This life is to suffer to live. We forget it's a life we have only once in our hands.
