Light

Light

A Poem by _mal

‘Sok you tell me  kindly

patting my arm as I drop a

dish towel on the coffee stain rapidly

spreading across the cream carpet,

same place as where you pissed

the other day

so it’s ok. You understand

my hand was shaking

he slammed the door so hard

eyes burning-

you get distracted and bark in excitement

and greeting as the cat scoots past, wearily

 crunching her biscuits with

one eye on your beaming face

quick little nappy bum darts across

hand outstretched

for her tail but I’m up

 and you cackle madly

as I swing you off the floor

and we pad from room to room,

your special smile spread across my face

. ha ha ! ... oh, the joy in these words and images is amazing ... say hello to the owner of that "nappy bum" for me ... and the cat too ... incidentally, i am guilty of causing the ugliest of coffee stains ... :) ...

wow. with lines like "so it’s ok. You understand/my hand was shaking/he slammed the door so hard/eyes burning" you do an incredible job of placing the reader into the scene. definitely something that has to be read more than once.
