Daydreams

Daydreams

A Poem by @_av_poetry

When I dream

I do it with mind clear.

And when I do

I do it hard

I do it well

I do it past my fear.

When I dream

I do it with heart pure.

To my sick soul

To my cold veins

To my lost hope

It is the only cure.

When I dream

I do it without reason.

I do it fast

I do it right

To stop would be a treason.

When I dream

I do it with eyes wide,

But at some point

I left my dreams

And in the sun

They dried.

There is so much purpose, so much conviction in the lines as the start of this poem. An energy to achieve and yet somewhere along the journey those dreams lost their flow. Dried out like a river bed burned by too much heat, in a unsympathetic. sun. I am left thinking, when your dreams are gone, what remains?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Chris. For those that have dreams as driving forces I think nothing.. read more
much like Langston Hughes' "Dream Deferred" because if we live life taking chances and just doing it rather than contemplating it...we let our dreams dry up "like a raisin in the sun" as he wrote.
I remember my youth...doing it without reason...fast and often times right.

Thanks Jacob. I love that poem and in many ways it inspired me to write this.
