Curse

Curse

A Poem by @_av_poetry

You came into this world crying

And crying you shall go.

I curse you with the power

That the mountains hold the snow.

I curse you with the power

That allows the stars to glow.

You caused me so much raging pain,

And pain you shall receive.

When everyone is happy,

All you will do is grieve,

Good things will never come your way,

All you will do is give.

You were fucked up and lonely,

And so you shall remain.

All you will find is loss,

And nothing much to gain.

And you will search for happiness,

But you will search in vain.

I’ve always hated cursing,

But curse you I shall do.

My words are pure and honest,

My heart is wise and true.

And you shall kick and scream,

Before my curse is through.

After reading this poem, which does wish a few quite horrible things on a person, do you think wishing for bad things to happen to someone who has hurt you makes you as bad as them? Is forgive and forget a better option?

a little old fashioned disdain goes a long way to tackling ones emotion, but to the marrow it is a waste of energy and resources to wallow in it to long and the irony of of the wallow is ultimately we repeat the transgressions to ourselves. Say are you sure this poem wasn't just about being Irish? Oh never-mind I was just wallowing. Like the rhyme and rhythm here and the subject matter is hilarious

not necessarily nearly as bad as they....mostly we have knee jerk reactions to the pain we are caused...and if someone does it with not a care in the world...they probably deserve this angst.
i like the idea of rebirth...the child then the man becomes the child and is born again...crying crying crying...
payback...
but then i read Lanston Hughes' poem "Cross"--
and saw how he managed to forgive...tried to...seemed to indicate it takes an awful lot of energy to be angry at someone...and is much easier to let it go...but it isn't easy, is it?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. No. It's not easy at all. Not as easy as it sounds.
Nice poem, honest and straightforward. To answer your question, I believe that forgive (but never forget) is the better option not for the person that hurt you, but for yourself. Holding grudges it's only gonna make me feel even more hurt!
