Time to PretendA Poem by ZyriaWhat do you see when you look in the mirror? Is your reflection everything you hoped it could be? This time did the screams subside? Or will the glass shatter with what you see? Worthless. Tramp. Villain. You can never be what they want. You can never be what they need. Their glorious lives you will always haunt Run and hide--stop wasting their time. Can you see the fire fade in your eyes? Or the lack of breath upon the glass? Close your eyes and pretend it’s a dream. Close your eyes and pray. What you’re worth is reflected in the glass, And like it or not, your life is blank. Close your eyes and pretend to see A real or better version of me. And when it shatters, don’t turn away-- Embrace the pieces of your broken life The curves, the edge, the bite. Can you feel each piece on your fingertips? Don’t fear: take a taste, touch your lips… One more time, for now and forevermore. Close your eyes and pretend. Dream of an existence in which you exist. Do you dare? Will you try? Trust me. Close your eyes and pretend to be happy. Close your eyes and understand it is better... It is always better to live in a lie. © 2010 Zyria |
