Rumination

Rumination

A Poem by TogetherAgain

The taste of sweet
chocolate and
crunchy peppermint
still linger
on my tongue, a reminder of
ruminating memories
from days past.
These tastes, so much like
the forgotten
scents and sounds
of childhood
turn from sweet
to bitter
as nostalgia tarnishes
with a cold
understanding of
the world.
