Six Ways to Suffocate

Six Ways to Suffocate

A Poem by Zune
"

six moments that will take your breath away.

"

Look there,

With an ant’s eye view,

As we wingless humans fall into the heavens,

Attempting to kiss the moon and stars,

And leaving a scar behind us of our smudged, fiery breath.

Stand there,

While the dragons frosted breath drips down from its serrated teeth,

As this white blanket softly crashes down upon life that rests unworried, unaware.

Before it slowly slides away to shield the belly of the beast.

Sit there,

Listen, the wild mustang prances,

Dancing in its brick corral,

Tossing it’s flaming mane in every direction,

Winding up the lonely night,

And calming everything with it’s gentle roar.

Kneel there,

My son, as the overworked sparrow flies

Frantically at the bars of it’s tiny cage,

Offering up a band of sunlight upon which is a single teardrop,

Hoping that she will accept this gift,

And relieve the sparrow by opening her own cage.

Rest there,

Upon the timeless grains of sand

Where tortured land has never looked so beautiful,

While the colors of the shrapnel stricken heart

Are painted across the forever-empty sky.

Lay there,

Underneath a salted night,

Where dreams and wishes dance,

Like thousand fireflies in a frozen ballet,

Then…

           breathe.
