One Moment

One Moment

A Poem by Ruthie Igunbor
"

We have those moments, all of us. It doesn't matter the theme, characters or plot ^_^

"
Batting her eyelashes
A satiated smile
Inspired wishful thoughts
Chronologically swimming through her mind
She was gliding her shoulders
Side to side
As the thoughts formed
Motioning through her
Think of a slow waltz
She felt the breeze
It's cold soothing finger tips
They caressed her
Knees folded up to her chest
Dancing with her memories
The winds knew it would tease her
Reminiscing about it would please her
Thoughts of him that drew a coy smile on her face
Dignifying memories that slated themselves
In her innocence and gladness
She rolled his name around on her tongue
Just before she spat them out
Almost in a hurry
She hardly could believe her effrontery
Choking herself in her own guilty pleasure
The little moments that they had spent together
Had become trans-dimensional and forever.

I love this. The words are just as eloquent as the movement of the character. It forms a mental image and it's like we remember with her, but with a memory of our own. Although the time-span is merely a moment, you can feel the time of the implied history leading up to the moment.

Very well imagined and constructed :)

I loved your use choice of words in this piece. They were perfect. They kept me going and pulled me all the way until the end of the poem. This was a complex and real poem about emotions, needs, and hidden thoughts. Great job!

Oh goody goody gumdrops! A yummy and romantic and oh-so-very relateable piece here Ruthie!
I have been sooo guilty of this sooo many times and it's pretty amazing how beautiful dancing with your memories are.
"Dancing with her memories" Is probably my favorite line ;) and the way you structure your poetry's just unique and very much fitting for the sincerity they release.
In other words, i really like this one Ruthie. :*

There's such a musical tone to this, maybe you wrote it whilst listening to music. the rhythm is quite hypnotic at times.. You have a spare way of writing, never too few or too many words - unlike me, and yet the result is smooth and fulfilling. I have to come back and read far more of your words. Thank you so much.

I'm deeply humbled by your review. I'm glad you like it. Thank you very much.
I love this poem! Perhaps because I could easily relate. We have probably all had that moment when we find ourselves reminiscing about things we had shoved WAY to the back of our minds; and, when they creep out one day, we realise we are savouring those memories, as each delicious one comes to us, before guiltily pushing them away again. I liked the very prose-like manner in which you executed this which is quite characteristic of your poetry. This is simple and beautiful, and seemed like you just reeled it out effortlessly. Well done, Zugwai!

Thanks dear. Thank you :)
Dancing with her memories...

That dance with our memories can lead us down either delightful or dangerous paths... but we do all step to the music of the past sometimes. Well penned, Ruth!
