Night CarriageA Poem by Zorrin86
With curious vigor,
Like a holy ghost in a forest Of catacombs, The Night Carriage roams Down every lonely beaten road, Coaxing demons In a haunt forsaken, Siphoning water out of ancient stones In the pale moon light, A cloaked sorcerer invokes black magic, Whispering in arcane tongues to simple folks sleeping, Inciting hysteria in dreams turned tragic, Churning their memories in a blackened barrel, As they betray sordid secrets in weeping. Ignoble passions vying for destruction In a field of twisted daggers host to resurrection, Conjuring great billows of intoxicating vapor, Choking the widowers and pensioners in indignation, As a child whispers songs that no one wants to hear, Describing visions that no one will ever see. As a woman fabled for her beauty Is tortured for bigotry, A man without morals Skulks in the shadows of deplorables, Pondering his lot in a vast meaningless structure, A miracle divined by wandering w****s and beggars. Past the vegetable graveyard And through the withering cornstalks They gather and pray to their deranged god, Sacrificing innocents in a pyre of wild wonders, Stopping only to listen for the wheels of the carriage, In this eternal night of degradation. © 2017 Zorrin86 |
