Train / Stop

Train / Stop

I missed the train today. It stopped right in front of where I sat. Some people got off. Then people got on. Then it left. I watched. That's all I did, was watch. And then I sat and watched the tracks it once occupied. They looked so lonely. I began pitying them. It must be a rough life as a train track. Always just near your partner but never touching. Always so close to having love but never attaining it. Always alone. Always.

If I had gotten on that train, what would've changed? Would I have gotten off it? Would I have just rode it till the end of its line? Why bother getting on it at all? I was just as well off not getting on the train as I'd have been getting on it. So when the next train comes, I won't ride it either. I'll just sit here all day and go home all night.
