Whiskey Lullaby

Whiskey Lullaby

A Poem by Aleksandar Kuzeljevic

Sitting in an empty room with nothing but walls
Looking down the floor alone with my toughts
Walls so dry, air so sour, I need to recover
From rusted memories and grimm soul

Pictures of nothing are hanging off the wall
Trying to fill them without a purpose or a goal
I can’t look up to find a meaning
To find the key to open the door

Suddenly I hear the knocking
“Are you still there my dear friend?
I came for you no need to stand
I hold the key, your life came to an end”

Maybe thats my purpose to leave this room
Room that became my only world
Dark, meaningless and apsurd
“Open the door and free me,
Break this knot and leave me”

Door opened and cold air surrounded me
Chilled to the bone, it blinded me
There I said to him “ You found me”
He just stood there and smiled at me

I finnaly left the room with a smile on my face
I flew from there and saw an empty space
There I was covered in mud and stains
It was the end of my worthless race

I drank myself to death
Alcohol became my only friend
Now I can say to myself goodbye
The only song I sang was whiskey lullaby
