Barbie sat on the shelf with Ken

as happy as can be

thinking "Look at us. We're so perfect

the handsome him and me."

G.I. Joe sat on the shelf

looking at Barbie

thinking "She'll never fall for a guy like me

girls like her like jerks like he."

A freckled dolly sat in the shelf

staring at the other three

thinking "G.I.Joe will never like me

can't he see he'll only be hurt by Barbie?"

Ken sat on the shelf next to Barbie

but he really only had eyes for the dolly

thinking "Why can't I get her to notice me?

If she did we would be so happy....."

This is a nice poem. I was thinking you were going to position ken as pretentious, nice that he likes the Dolly (i would too, she has more to offer than barbie).
I wonder if this couldn't be expanded into something more...just an idea (longer, perhaps as a short short?)
