A Grander TreeA Poem by Alexa Tascha Romantic poemA Grander Tree Vibrant vines grew over iron spikes And Nature’s child grew tall and strong With tough skin and a crow of leaves Golden sunshine feeds the tree Green grass is its bed But the earth and ground is also The resting place For tombstones and the dead Slabs of granite protrude from the ground Ghosts of the damned carry axes Their ethereal blades hew away at the tree With a sickening snap, Nature’s daughter dies Each branch cracking as it strikes the earth With Winter’s Breath The icy roots chill the graves Bringing the dead back where they belong And Nature reclaims their corpses Their flesh is payment for her daughter © 2012 Alexa Tasch |
