Gather in your groups now

and choose your side

war is at hand

 

The time has come

to fight back

we will start a rebellion

 

Do not be afraid

do not back down

do not give our secrets away

 

Step up now

to fight today

and listen to my plan

 

First we march

we hold up signs

no violence, not now

 

But they won't listen

and we'll get mad

and then the guns come out

 

Aim for their heads

It's o.k, they don't use their brains

if they did, we wouldn't be here

 

Then we chant our victory into the air

for this is only the beginning

call upon others for help

 

More men come marching in

and burn our camps to the ground

be we shall never silence

 

They continue to march

and kill our women and children

but we never back down

 

In the full moon light

in the middle of it all

The war is just beginning

And never again

will we obey them

even if we fall

I think the essence of the poem is in these two stanzas:

Revolution started out as peaceful but turned bloody when the revolutionaries start thinking of the other side as less than people... When they become what they were fighting against.

rebellion! wonderful! i know the feeling! that yearn to be free. and you always hope that it won't get violent; why can't people just use their heads and think rationally? it's an impossibility though. it always seems to come to violence, rebellion and resistance! awesome write!
