Different Stars

Fireflies gleam like stars in the sky

They keep us worlds apart

Oceans apart and the boats are sinking

We’re forced to keep dancing

After the music dwindles away

Acting like puppets

Acting like normal people

Masks force us to smile

While the lights of fireflies dance in our eyes

You’re too afraid to break the chains

Not too afraid to be the freak

You’re too petrified to flaunt it

Why be different when you could be a firefly?

A bug undetected in its beauty

Lit up and dancing like the rest

A firefly could cross those seas

Grey oceans, worlds apart

Illuminated by your radiance

They could keep the boats from sinking

Far brighter than the stars in the skies

Fireflies build a bridge across the worlds

Would you take my hand and walk with me?

Fireflies make me lonely

Will you enter the light?

 

 

 

Author's Note

Fireflies are all the same. Basically, being normal and like everyone else makes thing easier, but takes away all of the beauty. Would you choose to be normal?

Interesting write, most people prefer sticking to the stereotype definition of being 'normal' and well... normal. Being different is actually having faith in your way rather than following blindly. Liked this poem.

How many fire flies does it take to make a torch ? How would you make them all stay lite at the same time ? Think about that.....us truly weird ones waste alot of time thinking of these sort of things ? Pointless, but fun ! Your writing here is very good. I like it.... have fun with your fire flies !
