The Queen of the DeadA Poem by Alexa TaschHow many times have I slipped away Into the dark unknowing The mirrors are all filled with blood The evil eyes are glowing Into the silence she sings a song She sings her voice to death And in the mist she twirls around Like butterflies are dancing The butterflies are dancing When she wakes she dreams aloud For sleep here is not easy She tells the dead who walk on by Of dreams of fog and thunder She dreams of impossible things She dreams the butterflies are dancing The corpses gather all over To greet the Dead Man's ferry The sun won't shine for quite a while And she's the only one to tell me For her people are unknowing They cannot see the butterflies are dancing So here she wanders Lost, alone Among the crowds of ghosts and ghouls If she'll ever find a place Of shining gold And warmth and life forever Where butterflies are dancing The butterflies are dancing © 2012 Alexa TaschAuthor's Note
