Runner

Runner

A Poem by Zolly
"

Prompt: Describe a room that represents your thoughts or emotions, one you’re trapped in or always return to.

"

Craving solitude

Mourning for gratitude
Asking why give it away?

Limiting the time clock
Carving it to speed,
To Stay

Onto backs of steel

Tempters praise me
Fillers taze me
Attempting to fly away

Am I a child?

Think less of me

Resting as I lay
Soft as a pillow

Bees as in May
I am a runner
Keep eyes closed

As I am far away

Running in Circling speed

There could be many interpretations of this poem, but I have two.
One, "Runner" explores the struggle of living in a society that constantly demands motion and productivity, leaving individuals overwhelmed and disconnected. The speaker finds themselves stuck—running in circles, trying to find purpose and direction while feeling invisible.

Two, It’s about longing for recognition without the burden of proving oneself. The speaker desires to exist authentically, but societal expectations force them into a perpetual loop of striving, never reaching fulfillment.
