False Light

False Light

A Poem by wizardlypoet8
"

The stars represent hope, and the artificial light represents false hope. Yes, there is a Walt Whitman reference. I wrote everything except the grass thing. That was Walt. C:

"
Beauty interrupted by false light.
The stars have shown me their secrets tonight.
Unveiled by the power of my saddened eye,
They serenade my conscious with blissful lullabies.
They told me to send my prayers to the sky,
They said: "Do not be fooled by false light!"

The light of the lantern,
The headlights driving by.
This light, how dare the outshine
heavenly bodies in the sky?
Don't let the planes above fool you,
Don't count on their light
Save your prayers for a different time.

Like grass is the uncut hair of graves,
Stars are the hope within the night.
You must find the stars within your spirit,
And follow their shine.
And you must say to the heavens.
"I know that the truth is within my skies,
Don't try to brighten my world with your
false light."

Author's Note

wizardlypoet8
So I wrote the first version of this poem sometime earlier this year, and as I was typing it just now I kind of did a little improve and changed it up a bit. Tell me if it makes sense, and what you think it means!

This one feels very deep. I get the feeling of a religious undertone to it, but generally to be patient to wait for the real thing and to be careful of false hope?
