Monsters

Monsters

A Poem by Zoe Zee

Monster is a word which we usually save for the movies.
A big red goblin with yellow eyes and sharp teeth; but what about the monsters that are beautiful?
The ones who smile at you with a perfect smile and wink at you with their hazel eyes.
The ones that, instead of hiding under your bed, walk right through your door.
The ones that whisper in your ear to tell you they care, only to rip you apart seamby seam.
There are monsters in this world that love to trick you.
They love to hold your hand and kiss your neck, but at night they shed their skin.
They love to hollow you out and leave behind a shell of what you once were, and they don’t care. They don’t care that you’re broken.
They don’t care that they’ve destroyed you.
These monsters only want to see you bleed.
