Peaceful Night

Peaceful Night

A Poem by Zoey Balderston

Where has all the darkness gone?

I miss the peace of night.

When everything made sense,

When everything felt right.

In the biting break of dawn,

I'm blinded by the light.

I crawl back under my rock,

To await the peaceful night.

Am much the same but don't have the skill to speak of the night and sleep in the same way you can: 'I miss the peace of night. - When everything made sense,.. ' What is it for each of us and all the other insomniacs that prefer the wrap of darkness, the silence, the stars and only Self to think about.? Whatever it is, seems more comfort than concern. Many thanks for sharing, Zoey.. take care, keep safe. Please.

I love the night. I love this poem too. The words fit just right.

I too understand feeling more comfortable at night. What a lovely euphoric poem. :)

Very well written! I can see how this would be your favourite! It's short but says a lot, and has great musicality, that although gets a bit wonky on the penultimate line (one syllable addition would do the trick), the poem all in all proves a keeper! Well done!

Lol I like how you wrote this in the perspective of a gecko. Good job!

Not exactly the perspective I intended, but hey, however you interpret it is fine by me.

Myself really
Poets love the dark. We're comfortable in that space

Simple but I feel the same way sometimes. I am a night person it seems much more serene and less chaotic. I like it because it says how sometimes embracing the dark and solitude helps you understand yourself.
