Waiting

Waiting

A Poem by Zoey Balderston

I want to say I don't need you

I wish I could say I don't miss you

But that is a wasted effort.

The truth is I can't need you

The truth is I shouldn't care

But all I want is what's sitting there.

I shouldn't have relied on you

When I knew you'd push me down.

Then when I'm finally on my feet

I see you with her

And I'm right back on the ground.

So instead of trying to get back up

And risking more of the pain

I stay down and wait

For that one special guy

Who will help me up and hold me high.

But sitting here waiting for that guy

Is like waiting for the sun to freeze.
