True Happiness

True Happiness

A Poem by Perfect Mistake

It's a community, our family

We spend the cold hours in the shadows of the alleyway

Food wafting in the air from the experience restaurants down the road

Happy people with bulging wallets stride past

They aren't happy - its just a label

The happy people aren't looking at us in stables

They seem to be only intersted in the chaos of the graffitied walls

It reminds them of their own nostalgic resoning, but then

They take a break from the chaos of the walls

And have a $5.50 skinny latte with soy

And a healthy, wholesome $8.00 bagel

And they briefly wonder about the kids in the allway

But they forget as they bit into their $8.00 bagel-

Unseen and happy in our community of chaos.

Quite true. Money doesn't make people truly happy. It only distracts them from true life, love, and pain. Yeah, it may all seem dandy when they can buy what they want, go where they want, and take care of themselves easily when injured; but the worse pain is mental when they finally see they are wasting themselves away. Great work.

The poem tell a real and scary story. The media try to down play the pain and suffering of this world and the USA. I like the desire and the point of this poem. Easy for the multi millionaires in the Congress and Senate to vote for bills to assist the rich then the poor. Time for change. A excellent poem.

seems to be a picture of the United States. The lost. which also represents a greater percentage, in the world.
This is real, a good reality poem. I call it a description of vanity but......
I get attitude. I like what you reflect in this.

Those are interesting verses. Is it commentary on the high prices, or the plight of alley people? Maybe both. Happiness is a state of mind found at the end of each person's own road.
Your poem is thought-provoking and interesting, with vivid imagery.
Keep up the good work.

Nicely done. Money can't make your life rich.
Only living it can do that.

A very interesting poem. It seems to have some social commentary behind it which isn't too bad. The poem was overall very good.
