Painting One’s Self

Painting One’s Self

A Poem by ZoëLeB
"

People are a blank canvas and life’s a painter

"
From birth until adulthood every individual is trying to figure out who they are or who they will become. As if people are a blank canvas and life a painter. The array of colours on the painter's palette represents the factors that make up a person’s identity. As a person goes through life each action, experience and decision represents a new color that is added, created or taken away. The painter's palette is always changing and as the painter continues to paint the canvas, the final picture becomes increasingly more defined; each brush stroke a belief and every shape a personality trait. As life comes to an end the painter adds the finishing touches until their piece is complete, and the beauty of art is that it is abstract and unique, no two pieces are identical just as how no two people are identical. Everyone’s colours and brush strokes, everyone's experiences and decisions are different.

This is very good. Short, but great. It gave me a few ideas to play with on my own. It's making me want to write something about how no one knows what they will become until they become what no one knows. Or maybe write something about how the life I've lived is my ultimate self-portrait--mural--if you will.

Very good job.
Keep it up. It certainly makes me want to read more of your thinkings.

Interesting , you made me think
Are we really a Blank Canvas or do we come to world with some colors which we can change?
How can we make the colors brighter and beautiful , is it only in our hands ?

I love your words

"As life comes to an end the painter adds the finishing touches until their piece is complete"
There is an aesthetic grace in your idea. I like your work.❤

Indeed, each individual is unique. It would be great if each person would seriously consider life as a painting in progress. Perhaps then more thought would be applied to each stroke before it was put on the canvas.
