![]() Ode to the DesertA Poem by Zoe JayDriving empty desert roads, Just playing with sun-hot stones, Running away from the modes of thought that brought us to nought but this endless desert of minds and bones... Search beneath the desert sun, Looking for your mindless soul, In this hell we made for fun, We face the face of fiery fate, And die in the dust, our rhyme and role... And in this blistering heat, The sand snakes arise and writhe, And they start their hunt for meat. Gloat in the float of the dust motes, For here, their freedom may keep you alive... Tell the desert your secrets, Whisper them into her wing, Tell the sand about your debts, Absolve away your awkward wars... Mind-made deserts began our existing. We begin and we end here. This is not a place of earth, For this is a spirit sphere, Forged first in the fire of freedom, And then sharpened in repression's hearth... © 2013 Zoe JayFeatured Review
