Rock River Serenade

Rock River Serenade

A Poem by Zoe Richardson
"

It's been awhile, folks!

"
Rock River Serenade

You said your prayers on bended knee
But you never said a prayer for me
I thought you worthy of adoration
You made my worship an abomination

You sought and gave false piety
What kind of fool does that make me
Your faith was barbs and arrows aimed
A church of wholly needless shame

Flying long makes falling hard
Stretched out on strings like your guitars
A journey of absinthe and nightshade surprises
I found without comfort the sun blinds when it rises

What should be written on the gates of your city?
Look at us dying and offer us pity
We only look backwards and march to the rear
Abandon all hope if you enter here

There is nothing like an abusive marriage in a dying Midwest industrial town whose leaders are content to turn into pillars of salt.

We all live and learn, in trials and errors; it seems you are resolute, finding your recipe of pain-relief and turning tragedies in successes.
All admirable plus your writes of purging the past and holding on to things that last.

You are welcome.
Powerful and worthwhile words shared dear Zoe. You made the reader understand and grasp every word. It is sad when the misery is accepted by the people near. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome dear Zoe.
Your words are a dark tragedy here, Zoe. Seems you're tied to an irreligious place where caring and charity means absolutely nothing. Your telling poem as ever before stretches emotions, feeds fear and isolation among a community who turns the other way. Fine writing and meter, nonetheless but sadder than sad.
