Rock River Serenade
You said your prayers on bended knee But you never said a prayer for me I thought you worthy of adoration You made my worship an abomination You sought and gave false piety What kind of fool does that make me Your faith was barbs and arrows aimed A church of wholly needless shame Flying long makes falling hard Stretched out on strings like your guitars A journey of absinthe and nightshade surprises I found without comfort the sun blinds when it rises What should be written on the gates of your city? Look at us dying and offer us pity We only look backwards and march to the rear Abandon all hope if you enter here -Zoe Richardson © 2023 Zoe RichardsonAuthor's Note
