Threadbare Repentance

Threadbare Repentance

A Poem by Zoe Richardson
"

For Someone I miss so very much

"

Night into day

You are with me

I have chased your

Ghost through fire

And mud

I see you smiling

As you dissolve

Reaching back for a

Memory that will

Not be denied

I dream of you

In silence where

You come to me

Curls of coal

And sunshine

You surround me

With your arms and

I breathe the sweetness

Of your hair

I want to call

Out to you

Beg you to stay

Capture your tiny kisses but

You will not turn

My dreams and my

Devotions burn away

My shame

Sometimes

When I am sleeping

I feel your

Arms around me

I sigh

And breathe you in

When morning streams

Through the curtains

I wake to find you

Fading just another

Moonlit memory in the

Sea of all I cannot

Forget

Dear Zoe, the longing you feel for this person speaks volumes to the mother I am. I read the reviews to find that this was written for your son, who no longer speaks to you because of his father. I am sorry for the heartache you've endured and continue to feel through the epoch of his silence. If it will help to talk - I am here to listen. Take care!

amazing sentiment expressed here.
My first love would fit into this poem very nicely...
and I would be reading her and calling out to her at the same time, forever.

Thank you. It's for my son, who no longer speaks to me. Long, long story.
This is a love poem, but a thread of guilt runs through it. There is the feeling that the lost one may not be among the living, and for some reason the speaker feels responsible. On the other hand it could just be a relationship that soured because of mistakes.
