Equinox

Equinox

A Poem by Zoe Richardson
"

In celebration of Fall

"

Equinox

Autumn has moods

Of unabashed glee

Splashing the hills

With red and gold

Painting the valleys

With rust and amber

Leaves turning from

Celadon to chartreuse to citrine

Poised to flutter and fall

A Delft blue bowl of sky

Turned upside down

In an inverted crown

Whispers of white clouds

Dancing on the wind

Fronds of goldenrod

Wave to the last

Of the Queen Anne’s lace

Autumn is a story

Of blaze and beauty

Gilt and glory

The last hurrah

Of haze and hushed anticipation

Before winter white

Creeps in

On silent feet

Wow. This is wonderful! Brilliantly penned. I particularly liked the reference to the Queen Anne's lace. We had some in our backyard and when it dried, all brown and fragile, it looked like an ancient embroidered doily sitting on a stem. I really love this!

This feels dynamic & imaginative & frisky, like the season itself feels. Love your expansive use of unusual colors (((HUGS)))

thank you for this, you have painted with words what painters struggle to create with pigment.
