When you realize you have been lied to

Beautiful Anymore

 

I used to think of you

As beautiful

Deep and pure shining

Someone reaching out

To the someone in me

 

But now your voice is hidden

And I go seeking your face

In crowds and mirrors

If I am good enough

Smart enough

Sing loudly enough

Would you ever come back

You took something from me

When you left

Took the meaning

In the beauty I saw

 

You foolish boy

You’ve given to naught

Everything you convinced me

To accept as truth

Promises become lies

When actions are required

I was never more mistaken

Than when you revealed yourself

And now you want me gone

 

Go back inside

Go deep

Or go to hell

You can stand in the light of my bridges

And watch them burn if you wish

But I go to watch you die

What I once loved escapes me as

I move from flower to flames

You pull me back but I

Strike out, screaming

“I am not beautiful anymore!”

 

And you should let me burn

This is what it looks like to turn heartache into art (instead of a rant). Love it! Let's face it, in between the lines, this seems to be also about how we hate ourselves for making such a dumb mistake (((HUGS)))

It's a powerful poem when relationships gone awry and the lies erupted from nowhere then one can feel shattered and those feelings of flowers turning flames can arise! Trust, and having faith on each other is completely required for a smooth relationship.

This is a very powerful piece of poetry spoken with painful honesty. Recently a friend I know went through a difficult break up. Spending almost 4 years with someone she thought she knew only to be completely abandoned and blocked from her supposed love. He simply left without any explanation and told her to never contact him. She was devastated because no reason was given for his action. It was difficult to explain to her that there are sociopathic vile people incapable of actually loving anyone and instead mimicking the emotion for their own selfish pleasure. Such actions have irreparable consequences to those destroyed emotionally by it. Art has a way of bringing to light these disgusting attitudes that many may be unaware of. Despite its theme this is a remarkable poem. Thank you for sharing your art with us.

I am always surprised at the number of people who have this experience. I can't imagine what would make a person just leave with no explanation, but I have learned it is rarely altruism. Cowardice and fear are the usual suspects. But, as you say, sometimes people are just selfish and cruel, incapable of truly loving. Desertion is the cruelest act a person can commit. Death has its rituals. So does divorce. With abandonment, you are left with nothing and with no recourse. It is almost impossible to recover from it.

Let me burn and let me burn the bridge to you...You have taken a toll on me with lies...and I don't want to go back to that other side.
So I will idle on this side of what once was an enticing bridge until I find another's road to travel.

Don't linger in the smoke and ashes of a burning bridge. They will choke the life out of you. Light it up, and let that light illuminate the new path. There is always a way out, if you look.
