Twenty Nine Little Cups Of Coffee

Twenty Nine Little Cups Of Coffee

A Poem by Zoe Richardson
"

When your happy ever after turns into the Nightmare Before Christmas

"

Twenty Nine Little Cups of Coffee

Love is not

A kind friend bending

Lazy in the breeze

It is not a flower

Or gentle tidings

Love is salt

And wheat and

New cut grass

A good look in the mirror

When you

Don’t like what you see

Love spanks the

Air you breathe

And what fills your lungs

Is neither health

Nor rain

Do not be fooled

Love is a jealous mistress

Waiting impatiently

At the gates

For you to make

A mistake

Look but never

Seek because those

Words do not soothe

And unless prudent

You will inhale

A black wanting

Withering and helpless

On the vine

Not being a bit romantic myself & not being a fan of love poems in general, I'm pleased to read one that's not gaggingly sweet or mind-numbingly nondescript & full of trite romantic expressions. No, you make love sound like it's a highly questionable endeavor, & not for the faint of heart (like me) *wink! wink!*

Yes! Because it is! It is a dangerous drug and people have no idea they are addicted.
