AmeliaA Poem by Zoe RichardsonI was watching a documentary on Amelia Earhart and this popped into my head.Amelia I want to fly in a plane With a propellor cranked by hand To sail the skies with nothing Covering my head and Find in flight a way back A time more simple and evocative Than the disarray of now I want to ride the currents Of the night among the diamond Pathways glittering and strange So familiar they are like Backroads of velvet and silver Always leading home I want to roar through mist And taste lightning as it dances From clouds to my outstretched Fingertips a shivering cocktail Of elements converging as My wings dip and greet the storm I want to set my pace between The heavens in a Twist that echoes Somewhere beyond what is known Where others wait to hear a call Both instant and far away And then I want to fall to earth To the stars in the eyes of Someone who waits not with arms Open but with a heart that sees The in between The places where I soar and seek And know that I am coming home To stay -Zoe Richardson © 2021 Zoe RichardsonReviews
