St. Nothing Of NowhereA Poem by Zoe RichardsonIt's really a song, about death in the middle of a failing relationship. Trying to wrap my brain around the loss.St. Nothing Of Nowhere (A Song) Music
leads to laughter Just
like loving leads to tears I felt
your space beside me Never
fading through the years Sorry
hangs its faces On the
doorpost every night I
blessed myself with sugar But I
could not get it right I am
breathing underwater Like a
flower made of rain I hid
myself in silence Like a
sister made of flames But the
burning and the weeping Make
quiet lonely friends Too much
recrimination Spoils
the sweetest of amends I go
from you in stillness With
candle and with bell A book
of cold tomorrows With a
price too low to sell I can
make peace with the chasm Where
your voice used to be A
half-forgotten lover For a
fool who could not see Break me
with your whiskey ‘Cause
it’s cold and dark as hell The ease
of false repentance Is a
story I know well I twist
my words with candy But they
cannot make excuse There’s
no rest or restitution Because
you would not tell the truth -Zoe
