"Birds On a Wire"

"Birds On a Wire"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

“Birds On a Wire”

We’re sitting here,

The sky looks somewhat clear.

This isn’t a comfortable seat,

But I’m too beat.

We were left alone,

Then the sun came out and shone.

We are happy together,

We feel as light as a feather.

People see us as lovebirds.

We are and everyone’s heard.

But when I sit here on this perch,

I hope that you don’t feel like we’re in church,

With me preaching about my miserable life,

I don’t want to bore you with such strife.

No, not like the last one,

Please, no, if that’d be the case, then tell me hon.

I don’t want this wire to be cut,

I’ll keep my mouth shut.

So both of us don’t get crazy,

Over something so stupid and hazy.
