![]() "Cigarettes and Coffee"A Poem by Zoe Anne“Cigarettes and Coffee”
Deadly smoke rises in the nightly morning sky, Overly-caffeinated coffee is stained with ashes. Shall we start uncovering the lies? Let our minds go back in time through flashes.
The stench of the poison fills my black lungs, You exhale black tar, And sing sad songs, While I start up the crashed car.
We ride up the steep hill, And the stars are still there. You take a useless pill, The clouds of our smoke make the holes in the sky disappear.
We talk about pointless subjects, Drinking and smoking. We’re calm and don’t break each others necks. We’re sitting and thinking…
Cigarettes and coffee; What a combination! If only we had some cheese and Chianti! Then we could stay here forever and have no other destination!
