"Metal Apple

"Metal Apple

A Poem by Zoe Anne

"Metal Apple"

It's not edible,

More like malleable.

It's not red or green,

More like silver or steel.

Had I picked it when the tree was fertile,

It might not have fallen onto an anvil.

It wouldn't have been forged,

It would have been loved.

Yes, and thrown away,

But so it could decay.

It would have been for its own good,

For that's the life of all the heavenly foods.
