"Death Note"

"Death Note"

A Poem by Zoe Anne

"Death Note"

Black ink bleeds from my pen,
Onto the blank and controversial paper.
It leaves a stain,
A blemish.
My metaphorical prose isn't enough for society.
I need to simplify.
Soon, the whole paper is drenched in darkness.
I crumple it up like ashes,
And throw it away with the rest of the trash.
A new, fresh sheet appears on my compositional desk.
Horizontal lines are drawn,
Like sturdy shelves are built.
They will soon hold something special;
Everyone's most prized possession;
Their name.
I will write down the names,
Of those who have troubled me so,
Through out the years...
As I have said many times before,
They will pay,
I will get my revenge...
This will be my death note.
Once they have been defeated,
Their names will not only be crossed out,
On this insignificant piece of paper,
But also on the very parchment of society.
