Fervent Love

Fervent Love

A Poem by Zoa

Affection shone in his gaze,
Though I had my eyes closed,
I could see it clearly.
Comfort resounded in his words,
Though I had my ears closed,
I could hear it distinctly.
Warmth was in his tender embrace,
Though I had my skin covered,
I could feel it deeply.
His love was a blazing fire,
Though my senses were numb,
It's heat reached me.

This poem beautifully explores how love transcends the limitations of physical senses. Through vivid imagery and a gentle, reflective tone, the speaker conveys how affection, comfort, and warmth are felt even when one's senses are "closed off." The repetition of sensory barriers paired with the intensity of emotional connection creates a sense of love's boundless nature. The metaphor of love as a "blazing fire" effectively conveys its power and reach, though a more subtle image could deepen the emotional resonance further. Overall, it's a tender and thoughtful expression of love’s ability to connect us on a deeper level.

I greatly appreciate and admire your use of elegant punctuation. I do not however know what it means to have ears closed or understand the line, "though my senses were numb,"
