En Requiem

En Requiem

Scenic days give way to time, just as darkness must give way to the light,

in your room.

The dim ray of morning sun would seek out your face.

Though I found it first,

On most days.  Before the dawn broke,

Then the c**k crowed,

          And you left.

Dear we willed our best,

And filled every crest,

Passed every test,

          Now, on with the rest.

I had wondered if the coldest of your mind had met the warmth of your heart;

Would the vain of your absence still linger this long?

Or, will our story be told in a song.

Of how our life’s rightness turned wrong.

          With a single bullet.

Stable hands.

Strong legs.

Solid chest, fell freely as the sun did

          That night.

Weak minds can be lead astray.

And we’d love to hear where we ended up…

If, I didn’t let go of your face that morning.

If, I didn’t get out of bed that morning.

Though I don’t hold any regrets of minutes past

         In your eyes.

But scenic days must give way to time.

Just as darkness must give way to the light.

In your room.
