Stasia let out a blood-curdling scream.
The thumping of Dawn's footsteps echoed through the loft as she ran to her friend's assistance.  When she burst through the door, she hit something that protested with an 'oomph'.  It was Stasia, on the floor shaking in pain.
"Oh!"  Dawn fell to her side.
"U-usually they don't l-last so long," she shuddered and gasped, "usually I-I w-wake up before... before the impact."
"Ohmygod, Stay, what's happened?"  Dawn inspected her friend, who was convulsing in pain.
Her voice shook the response, "It w-will p-pass."  She smiled, but frowned simultaneously, trying to reassure Dawn.  It hurt to breathe, her body ached everywhere.  In the course of a minute, she calmed, her breathing steadied, and she eventually stopped shaking.  The pain was gone, but she was exhausted.  "See?" she told Dawn.  "It's all good."
"What happened?"  Dawn's voice was melodic and gentle.  Her hands were cradling and caressing one of Stasia's.  Unknowingly, there was a transference of energy, as Dawn's essence radiated healing.
Inhale... hold it... exhale, Stasia told herself.  Looking at their hands, Stasia became fascinated.  Coming from Dawn were sparkling green waves, an emerald array of color in the air around her body, and the waves were flowing into young Lady Benedict, making her feel great strength and peace.  She jerked her hand away, barely, and stared at it with round eyes.
"What are you doing?"
"What," Dawn seemed hurt, "do you mean?  I'm trying to help you..."
"Don't you see-" Stasia stopped herself.  Of course Dawn didn't see.  I'm going crazy.
Stasia got up off of the floor, a bit too quickly, so she suffered a moment of dizziness.  Quickly her friend responded, jolting up to provide support.
"See what, Stay?"  She was sincere.  Patient.  Kind.
Not knowing how to respond, Stasia sucked and chewed on her lips with her gaze to the floor.  Dawn's hands were still glowing green, she saw.  Her own hand still had traces of the energy disappearing into it.  She held up the hand, palm to Dawn.  Catching Dawn's hazel eyes with her currently chestnut brown ones, Stasia pointedly glanced at her raised limb, confusing Dawn, who mirrored Stasia's gesture.  More transference of energy, and though their palms did not touch, The Girl Who Didn't Care felt the pressure of the coursing emerald flow.
Slowly, Stasia withdrew her hand, still staring at it, slack-jawed.  Her roommate didn't know what to do, so she remained silent, cupping her hands to her lips with a worried expression on that freckled face.  Stasia blinked rapidly and shook her head to rid herself of perplexity.  She threw her hands up in surrender, gesticulating pointedly with every word she spoke.
"Okay!   Oh f*****g kay!  I'm alright!"  She made a scrunchy looking face and squirmed.  "Ugh!  Glah.  Blarg.  Mech."  When she was through being silly, she looked Dawn square in the face, chewed her lower lip, and nodded a few times to express a 'whelp' vibe.  Dawn stood there, less concerned, yet still thoughtful.  She didn't know what to make of it.  "Booze time," stated Stay.
"What happened to taking it easy?"
"Gotta drink away the pain, baby Dawn," Stasia half-joked.  Her grin was genuine.  What a nack for snapping out of things.  She skipped away, down the hall, passed the living room, then out the door.  Time for a beer run.
