REMEMBERANCE OF JUNE 16 1976A Poem by zie Da Story Teller Poethistorical poem
Rimemberance of June 16 1976.
They took to the streets. Armed With books and pens. Fighting for their violated right. Of learning in a language they did not understand. Perhaps. What they seeked had never been found. Maybe What their mouths spoke fell on deaf ears.. The remembrance of 1976. They were led by TSIETSI MASHININI.. They walked from isaacsons high school. To naledi high school. Armed with no bullets. Nor missiles. No shield in their arms. Only protected by braveness. They walk with their heads high. Singing and chanting. Struggle songs and the prophecy of a new "Azania" My eyes see them as if i was there. Clouds and clouds of dust rose. As they marched do the streets. Tsietsi up front leading them to their deeds need.. June 16 1976. Police armed with pistols and riffles. They block their path. But little did only did they know.. There is more than one route to solve a problem.. The blood shed we never foresaw. Bullets glazed and riffles were shot. Tear gas provided to divide my people. Like ants on an ant hill we stuck together and marched on.. Even though some were hit to their dearth. We still kept walking. 16 June 1976 176 the reported dead on the blood spotted plot. Yet under the carpet 700 hundred more were berried with bullets on their chest. And crying voices that were never heard My chest bleeds. For i saw my brothers and sisters. Fall from bullets with no eyes. Yet aiming for dearth. That separates the nation that cry's Young and Old. They all got slayed for their birth right.. Like innocent sheep they died for the future that is today The Remembrance of June 16 1976. #I_Am_Zie_Da_Story_Teller_Poet © 2015 zie Da Story Teller Poet |
