Love or Sex?

Love or Sex?

A Poem by Md. Ziaul Haque

Indeed true love uplifts the soul and the person simultaneously,

But lust is familiar with one way i.e. hell only,

If our love is progressively inclined toward love making,

Then love itself will be lost, its true worth ‘shall’ remain missing.

Donne’s “A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning” and “The Good Morrow”,

Do emphasise the philosophy of Plato,

Agreed! Even amid such a sophisticated age,

Plato and his “Symposium” are at work always.

While scanning Ovid’s words, I sound like a doubter,

That “every love’s defeated by a fresh successor”,

Stronger desire in “Sonnet 151” did win over Shakespeare’s love,

For the so-called Dark Lady, his dove.

Hence none can get rid of Eros,

And Aphrodite from the hearts,

Himeros also keeps doing his job all together,

Igniting the corporal desire.

Love is a feeling so is sex,

Both being severe in temperament have the ability to earn vex,

True love seeks a pure spirit, physical beauty shouldn’t be the decisive factor,

Not a must for the lovers to go after.

i read somewhere, love and meditation walks together....one takes over of the other one by one... your words describes love in a beautiful manner...you have rightly included the great names to make your point.. its a nice work.. n i believe a love is more than just sex.. its a feeling that takes you to a new world... sex only plays a part to bring the two souls together but when it becomes the soul of relationship it takes an evil turn.. thanks for sharing it:)

There s something intriguing here and it seems to me that there is a presentation of opposing forces. And that it the inherit power of any definition as the mythological representations were / are and more conceptualism of sorts presented in favour of division but really is not and it continues to be intriguing. Yet in practice things seem to show that there is a tragic difference between those actions that are a consequence of love and those that are not.

Intriguing reading.

Thankyou

THIS. IS. EXCELLENT! I love how you've used older works of literature along with your poetic choice of the design so it sounds both classically and yet new age to fit the times--but also reveals that the puzzling question seems to have vexed us all for quite a while. Thank you so much for sharing, can't think of anything to add or edit! Brilliant piece.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. :)
A most factual and informative piece of work. In Out of Africa a scene takes place where the man ask the women to be still after he has entered her. I believe this form of union might be a transcendent form of sexuality.

Sex is for body and Love is for soul. If both are together its heaven otherwise Hell.
