The Beautiful Prostitute

The Beautiful Prostitute

A Poem by Md. Ziaul Haque
"

The Beautiful Prostitute

"

Nature had gifted her with everything,

Yet fate did wait with something,

She had dreams swimming across her eyes ever,

Since her thoughts got wings to explore.

But the bad character,

In the silhouette of poverty did hover,

Over the family suffocating peace,

Through the window escaped happiness.

She turned not into a devadasi but a harlot,

Selling her flesh, loved,

Killing the soul,

The irony lingers as usual,

The society did and does blame her,

And with hellish intensity abhor,

Alas! The vultures and hyenas from the same civilization,

Visit her after the lone sun dips near the horizon.

Doesn’t blood run in her veins?

Won’t her progenies reach the skies?

Didn’t Drona, Ghritachi’s son, taste success?

Are her teardrops different when she sheds tears?

sometimes i feel life itself behaves like prostitute.... it loves for a while, it seduces you into certain things and then make you its prey...society dont feel that agony..it just dont react to it..infact it enjoys it..your description of prostitute is of a girl who just had no other options but to choose this.. society hates her but prays her in the darkness.. well written and well asked questions.. she is just like ours..its just she is not covered like many..thanks for sharing :)

Thank you so much.
We as humans are not all the same
Why judge a person on what the do for a living.
I believe this work is older than any so called god
It is those I think who believe in such worship
condemn unjustly.
Well I read that's what your saying.
other than my little issue a nice piece

Thank you so much Mr. John. I appreciate your thoughtful review.
I like the image you created of a prostitute. I think you penned this really well, without being explicit or degrading. I liked the nice pace and structure. This was good!

Thank you so much for the kind words. :)
The way you expressed the transformation from a girl with dreams that reach the sky to a woman lost in poverty with nowhere to turn, fate grasping her into the world of selling one's self was fluid and beautiful. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.

Thank you so much.
sometimes i think that some of them not to be blamed, since they do face lots of financial problems and some of them do look for prosituition inorder to get money not to fill their desires.. society hates her, but why ? if they loved her before she got like that they'd have helped her , but no one cares unless they do something wrong, though 80% of the men in any sociaty that despise her, would die just for a night, and i know lots of boys who have this.. and when she hates someone she'd revenger in her Bitchy way, just like any innocent girl would be reffered to. manys dont care about her, or what she feels of thinks, they just want her to be there.. and a b***h can hurt the most since she knows alot, and she can expose manys identities.. just for them to be happy and well, them to be real, cheaters.. she dont comitt to anyone, she dont give promises, she just acts like her job, but she have feelings too, she might be crying all night because she sinned, she might be feeling guilty and trying to repent, but life's ship goes the other direction and kills her.. well that was a great work haha. thank you for shering , i will share this review :P haha
