Society has Changed. For the worse, I believe.

Society has Changed. For the worse, I believe.

A Poem by [KL]
"

Just a quick piece of writing showing a few examples of how society has changed in the past decade and a half.

"
I didn't write this alone. I had some help. This came from a two year old boy from Indonesia called Ardi Rizal who is already hooked on smoking. What sickens me about this is that his father is well aware of this, and encourages his son to do this. What does that say about people of this Earth today? Nothing good, I assure you.

Aged nine I watched Pokemon,
Not naked girls online.
I didn't do drugs or weed,
'Cause smoking crossed the line.
Social networking wasn't there,
That sort of thing was new.
Wasn't on my-space all day
There were better things to do.

I got my first phone aged eleven,
Those were happy times for me.
Until I found babies had them too,
I find this weird, you see.
Nowadays, it's seen as cool,
To drink, fight and steal.
When I was twelve, it was great,
If you could climb a tree.

Just what has this world come to?
Look at society.
Aged fourteen I fed handheld pets,
Not eighteen month old babies.
Fake tan was substituted
With all sorts of mud and dirt.
Kids of my time had dignity
They weren't a dirty flirt.

EDIT: I have changed this song... It's a new version =D Please re-review it.. xD
I realise the flow of this poem won't be too great.. The syllables on each line may not agree with each other.. But I did this in a very short amount of time, at 10:51 today (GMT).. Soo yeah. Any suggestions on how to neaten it up will be welcomed (: ALSOOO; Yes I know its "MySpace" and not "my-space" as I've written it. But oh well (:

You're completely right, we're in the age of "social networking", which is actually code for disaster. The internet and texting on cell phones has changed the way people live. Now we have things like cybersex and sexting... lol. But I guess that's just the way it is. And I expect it's going to do nothing but change more as time goes on, because are lifestyles are dictated by the advances in technology. Nice write, though. True, the flow isn't perfect, but it's a pretty powerful message you're trying to get across.

So true Kasim, so true. You hit this spot on the head. In the park today on the swings, trying to get my childhood back, and a 5 year old bought out the same mobile as me. It is disgusting. People believe they have to grow up and act like the rest of society. I miss the old days. Even Pokemon and virtual pets are not the same anymore. Lovely write though. Very clear, very true. Agrees with Dutch jr. might not flow right but it is amazing. Very powerful. Well done.

I agree with the message to an extent. It's horrible that kids aren't allowed to be kids, but I think it's less of a result of technology and more of a result of parents choosing not to keep an eye on their kids.

I liked the part about cocaine and how when you were a kid you thought it was awesome climbing trees.
