Just a quick piece of writing showing a few examples of how society has changed in the past decade and a half.
I didn't write this alone. I had some help. This came from a two year old boy from Indonesia called Ardi Rizal who is already hooked on smoking. What sickens me about this is that his father is well aware of this, and encourages his son to do this. What does that say about people of this Earth today? Nothing good, I assure you.
EDIT: I have changed this song... It's a new version =D Please re-review it.. xD
I realise the flow of this poem won't be too great.. The syllables on each line may not agree with each other.. But I did this in a very short amount of time, at 10:51 today (GMT).. Soo yeah. Any suggestions on how to neaten it up will be welcomed (: ALSOOO; Yes I know its "MySpace" and not "my-space" as I've written it. But oh well (:

You're completely right, we're in the age of "social networking", which is actually code for disaster. The internet and texting on cell phones has changed the way people live. Now we have things like cybersex and sexting... lol. But I guess that's just the way it is. And I expect it's going to do nothing but change more as time goes on, because are lifestyles are dictated by the advances in technology. Nice write, though. True, the flow isn't perfect, but it's a pretty powerful message you're trying to get across.
I. Love. This. It's so accurate and 'straight-up.'
Some of my favorite lines are:
"Nowadays, it's seen as cool,
To drink, fight and steal.
When I was twelve, it was great,
If you could climb a tree."
"Fake tan was substituted
With all sorts of mud and dirt.
Kids of my time had dignity"
In some ways, it highlights the fact that younger generations seem to be addicted to all of the cruel things in life, even if it is something electronic. There are ways to have fun - to go play in the sun and roll around in the dirt until mom and dad get mad. Not sit inside and play the X-Box all day to the point where your parents aren't even sure if you're home or not.
Seriously a very strong piece that says a lot. I honestly don't have any sort of criticism for this piece. I think it's marvelous. A true work of art.
I agree fully with you. When I was in primary school, nobody talked about sex. Now you have kids in reception and year 1 talking about it, calling each other gay and having what they think are boyfriends and girlfriends. When i was 9, I had no idea what being gay was.
Kids are growing up way too fast these days. They want all the cool things that comes with being an adult but don't realise the expectations and responsibiltiy that comes with it as well.
wow!!! This has got to be your best one kasim... *claps* no jokes this is actually really good... I like how you use everything around you so that people can relate to it, like internet, drug use, etc. keep writing I like your work and would like to read more... :) x
Just what has this world come to? we can only expect so much from society, it's the cycle, it will never be the same, it'll chnage every so many years and you put so much truth into your words, I was doing the same thing when I was 9 talking 'bout how cool I thought Pikachu and his Charazad were, society shapes the people in it. Luckily for us/those who'd encountered society without all these brainwashing stuff, but then again that's just life. Maybe in 5 or 10 years so, you will find someone else writing the exact thing about how "their" society has changed, for the better? for the worse? who knows, society changes every 5 minutes, like everything else, music, technology, movies, everything is changing. I loved this piece though, becaus eyou expressed how much "our" society has changed into this new one, you captured it perfectly,. Brilliant.
