~Two and a Half Months Later~

It's been two and a half months since Edward left to go chase off, and hopefully kill, Envy. Things have been different, and I'm about to slip into some money issues, but Asher and I are doing fine.

He's been getting up on his hands and knees, attempting to crawl but not quite getting it. His hair is thinning out a bit, and the soft spot on the back of his head isn't quite so soft anymore. He's getting to be a big boy. He eats a lot, and is still quite a sound sleeper.

He seems to...listen to things. Like in Peek-A-Boo, I'll say, Where's mama hiding? while I cover my eyes, and he'll pull my hands away with a big smile on his face. I'll ask him where his bear is, and he'll sit there a minute, and then point to the living room, where it always is.

When I tell him not to play with his food, he actually listens and eats without much mess. He's certainly a unique little boy.

Winry, Pinako, Alphonse, and even Colonel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye visit when they can. They don't know the real reason that Edward left, but I told them that he said he needed time away by himself, maybe get work and send me the finances. It won't work for long, we're already running on a food shortage. I got a job by the station selling flowers at a stand. I figured it was the only thing I would be good at considering I did it for two years a little while back.

Winry would watch Asher when I worked, or I would take him with me and work while taking care of him. Most of the time, when he came with me, the old woman I worked for would play with him, tell him stories, and often tell him what a good job mommy was doing at work.

I didn't particularily like the new routine, considering it got difficult at some times, like once when Asher was sick. There were highs and lows, but I woke up each day hoping to get a letter or call from Edward, clinging to that little sliver of hope. He called once, the day after he left, and said that whatever he was thinking he would be gone, he would be gone a lot longer.

I missed him, terribly. I wanted him back, badly. I wanted my Edward, my husband, back home with me. I never let the thought enter my mind that he was dead. It couldn't happen, not to the Fullmetal Alchemist.

He had a family to come home to. He would be sure to see his wife and son again before he drew his final breath.
