I opened my eyes to find I was at home laying on the couch. I shakily sat up and looked around for those black shadows, but I didn't see any. It was then that I noticed Edward, who was sitting on the opposite end of the couch leaning on his arm, asleep.

     He was home.

I yawned and said, "Ed? Edward, wake up." I lightly shook his shoulder and his eyes slowly opened. He looked at me, smiled, and said, "Thank God you're okay. What was that?"

"I, um..." I took a deep breath and told him everything that had happened. The black shadows, the uneasiness, Envy, and all the talk about insanity and madness.

"It was scary," I continued. "like a nightmare I couldn't wake up from. Envy taunting me, my mind completely lost..."

"Where is Envy now?" Edward asked loudly. "I'm gonna beat his a*s into the ground and bury him!"

"You can't," I said quietly, looking at my hands. "I tried to hit him. He kicked me twice, and when I tried to punch him, my fist went right through him..." It was then, remembering that Envy kicked me in the jaw, that my jaw started hurting.

"Damn," I mumbled, putting a hand where Envy kicked me. Edward quickly got up and went to the freezer, quickly returning with some ice wrapped in a towel.

"Here," he said, handing it to me.

"Thanks." I put it on my sore jaw and just sat there. Edward sat next to me and there was an awkward silence for quite a while.

It ended when there was a loud clap of thunder outside, followed by heavy rain pelting the window.

     "Unlucky," Edward said. "Rain."

"Lucky that we're inside, I guess," I said stupidly. What the hell?! Why is it that all of a sudden, it's hard to talk to Edward? Honestly!

"Um, listen, Lucy," Edward said suddenly. "There's something that I want to say, and I don't know how to say it..."

I heard my pulse hammering in my ears. Was he going to say what I thought he was...?

My hand automatically gripped the silver locket that's been hanging around my neck since the day Edward gave it to me.

"You...you're still wearing it," Edward said quietly. I nodded and turned to face him. "What do you have to say, Edward?"

"Well, Lucy, I...um..." He really wasn't sure how to say it. He looked away from me and stared at the ground, his thinking face on.

"I should have thought about how to say this on the way back..." I heard him mutter. I was definately positive I knew he was going to say.

"Edward, do you need some help?" I asked.

     "What do you--?"

"I'm going to try and guess what you're going to say," I said. "So, are there less than five words?"

"There's three or four," Edward said, a smile starting to spread across his face.

"Is my name one of the words?"

     "Yes, possibly."

"Is there another word in it that starts with an "L"?" I asked, inching closer to him.

"Yes," he said in a half whisper, inching a little closer to me. "Lucy, I--"

But I quickly cut him off by gently placing my lips on his. His eyes widened a little, and his face couldn't have been redder when it ended.

"Did that pretty much sum it up?" I asked him, snickering at how that caught him off guard. But he laughed it off and said, "Yeah, it did. But, just for good measure, let me actually say it, assassin."

He hugged me close to him and said quietly, "Lucy, I love you. I always have." He let out a laugh and said, "And Al's really the one who made me see it, when he started questioning me in Dublith."

"I...love you, too," I said in almost a whisper. I felt my face getting hot. "I have ever since I ended up alone in Munich two years ago."

I clutched the locket tighter in my hand and said, "Ed, promise me you won't leave again. Stay here."

"I promise, Lucy," he said gently, kssing the top of my head. "I promise, I won't leave you again."
