Chapter 17

Chapter 17

A Chapter by Keevan

He hit the ground hard, and the purple light turned into a golden one coming from the ceiling. I looked up, and saw that the Gate had in fact opening.

"Damn it, Envy!" I screamed, getting up and running to Edward. He landed on the edge on the inside of the Circle, and when I got to him, the floor caved. I grabbed his wrist as we fell.

That wasn't a very comfortable landing either. And that one, I didn't stay conscious for.

"Wake up," I heard faintly "Wake up, Lucille!" I opened my eyes and saw Alfons looming over me.

"Alfons...?" I sat bolt upright and shouted, "Edward!"

"He's fine," Alfons said. He pointed to a plane that was set to launch. Edward was inside, still unconscious.

"He got shot," I said. "Alfons, he got shot!"

"No, he didn't," Alfons said, trying to calm me down. "That guy got his arm." Alfons coughed, and a lot of blood was on his hand.

     "Alfons--"

"Don't even start," he said. "We have to get Edward back to his world." And he ran over to the plane, me following with a scared and uneasy feeling that things weren't going to end well at all.

Edward slowly opened his eyes as Alfons buckled him in.

"H-Hey!" Edward shouted. "What is this!?"

"This plane will take you through that portal and back to your home in Shambala, or whatever is beyond it," Alfons said. Shambala?

"What about Lucy!?" Edward shrieked. "It's her home, too!"

"There isn't enough room," I said tonelessly. "You have to go home, Edward. You have a brother waiting for you." The reality of that moment sunk in instantly. Edward needed to get back to Amestris. There wasn't a place there for me anymore. My body was in a coma there, it had to wake up someday, right?

I looked up at Envy, just remembering that he was there. He thrashed and writhed around until he was flying directly into the Gate. Alfons closed the glass windshield of the plane, despite Ed's protests, and got the plane ready to launch.

"Good luck back home," I whispered as it launched. A cloud of smoke came from the engine before it launched, and during the launch.

"He'll be okay," Alfons said as Edward and his plane went up towards the gate. "I know he will."

And that was all fine and dandy with me. My brain wasn't even comprehending most of what was happening, anyway.

That is, until I heard another loud gunshot, and a sharp pain in the middle of my back.

"Ohh..." I groaned as I sunk to the floor.

"Lucille!" Alfons cried. He, too, got shot, and he fell to the floor hard.

And that was when it disappeared. The noise. The room. Alfons. The portal.

The floor was white. The walls were misty yellow. The Gate was right in front of me, it's doors open, and it's little black arms wrapping around me. This time, I didn't fight it. I let those arms take me back into the Gate.

It was similar to the first time I went through. Images flashed in my mind, the agony never seemed to stop, and more and more of those tiny black hands covered my arms, legs, and waist. Until, I saw a light. It got brighter and brighter. I willed those arms to take me to it, and I awoke.

I opened my eyes to a dimly lit hospital room. I held up my hand and looked at my palm. The skin was completely healed from when Envy had cut into me and peeled it back like onion skin.

I felt bandage wrappings tied around my head. I sat up, felt dizzy, but ignored it. I wasn't wearing what I had in Munich. Instead, I was in a blue hospital shirt and pants. My eyes widened, and I knew what had happened.

I was Lucy again. I was back in Amestris. I had awoken from that coma. I made it through the Gate. I was home once again.

And then the Earth shook violently, and I realized that my nightmare from just moments ago had come with me.

Envy had, too, passed through the Gate.
