Epilogue

I've finally finished a book!!!!

Diary. April 14th

 

A year has gone by. I am seventeen, living in Munich, Germany, with my roommate, Gracia, the flower shop owner.

     Alfons Heiderich is one of my closest friends. When I first met him, what startled me most was that he reminded me so much of Alphonse Elric. It pained me to look at him, but I manage.

     I'm forced to manage every day. A lot of the people in Munich, on this side of the Gate, look so much like the people I know in Amestris. I see a lot of the faces I have killed, and guilt kills me on the inside.

     What pains me most is Alfons's roommate. Edward Elric.

     We've met. We're not that good of friends.

     I don't try and get to know him because just seeing him makes me cry. I know that it's not the real Edward, so there's no point in getting my hopes up. I feel empty inside every day. I rarely eat. But when I sleep, I see visions.

     I am laying in a hospital bed in Central. I'm still in the coma. I always wake up crying, because in every dream, I'm looking into the room while my body lays unconscious in bed, and the visitors I get are people who care about me.

     I can't find peace or happiness here. But I still keep my promise.

     I wear the plastic smile. I'm friendly with people. I'm a kind person. I'm liked by a lot of people.

     Gracia says I'm half of the reason a lot of men go to the flower shop and buy flowers. I work for her part-time for little money an hour, but I don't care. Gracia has been good to me. I have her to thank for why I'm doing so well now.

     I often think of everything and everyone in Amestris. I'm glad I met the people I did, and I'm glad things happen the way they did, even though most of it caused me pain.

     I have to stop writing now, Gracia needs my help with the shop. Time to go live my life to the fullest.

     For me, and Edward as well.
