A snippet of the futureA Story by Martel ZeeThis is a story about a guy who sleeps after receiving a rejection letter from a girl
The door opened slowly but none of us noticed we were busy kissing. " Jack ! " , I heard the shrill voice of Maria piercing into my ear .Thats when i realised that she was in the house and looking at us. I separated with Martha unwillingly.
"What? " her younger sister asked . She was more beautful than her older sister Maria . I couldn't believe how blind i was to choose Maria at first but that didn't matter now as Martha was all mine alone . I first met Maria a year after high school at a ranch . She was the madam's housegirl and i was the boss's gardenboy . We fell in love like what all the teenagers at the farm did and i was planning to impregnant her like what all the boys at the farm where planning. " Hey ! I am not talking to you Martha i am taking to Jack." "Don't talk to your sister like that Maria " I intervened . " I saw your car outside and i knew you where here, " Maria said . True i drove a Porche which made all the girls to look at me whereever i passed and to greet me whenever i stopped. I knew she liked my car very much and she wished to sit next to me when i drove around the city so that all the girls could see that she was my girl friend . " We need to talk." she continued . She then sat on a sofa. We were in a small town house in which she, Maria, shared with her younger sister , Martha. "Sure." This was the moment i had been waiting for for the past five years and i could not believe it could come so soon. " Why are you doing this to me Jack?" I glanced at her in time to see her shedding a tear . A fake one of course. Thats what i wanted. " I have been your girl for the past six years and because now you are rich you want to dump me like that ,why do you break my heart like that?" Maria started sobbing . I felt sorry her and pity for her heart which i realised that it could only be broken by me. In fact no one could break her heart only money could. After Maria left the farm to work in the city i decided to work harder and further my education . I did and i became successful . I found a job as an electronic engineer at a big telecommunication company. I had the money. "You know what you did Maria after you left the farm you wrote that letter . You said you could not afford to date a gardenboy and you could not see any possibility of me a ,farmboy , getting married to a first class city girl ,like you . You said i was very poor that i could not match your standards . Didn't you say so Maria? " I knew i had hit a bull's eye . She was startled for a moment but she quickly recovered and said , " I am sorry Jack maybe we can start things afresh " "What? " Martha who had been silently amusing herself cut in , " No way Maria you can't take my boyfriend this time, sorry ." I could see Maria was hurt and she looked at me for support and all i could say was " It can not happen again not even in a million years " I could feel a surge of triumph overcoming the anger as Maria wept whilst i grabbed my girl by the spine which always made her shiver with delight and made for the door. "Don't mind her ." i told Martha as i kissed her a goodbye kiss on the cheek . "When can i see you again ?" Martha asked and i could see she was not happy with our parting as usual . I drove away and left her smiling after i told her i was coming to get her that night to go out for a movie . I was smiling as i drove my porche knowing that i was the happiest man in the city ... "Jack !" . I woke up with a start. " Are you still sleeping you lazy boy! " the voice barked again thats when i realised it was my mother alread yelling at me in the early hours of the day cutting my dreams short . I grabbed my old dirty shirt and made a mental note to wash it when i return from my work and to buy a new one when i got a job in the city one day. When i was about to leave the room i saw the letter which had broke my heart the previous night. Mary had written saying she finaly thought she had enough of farmboys and was now for the city guys. " I will have my revenge one day ." i told myself before i ran out to get the cattle to the diptank and return to continue my work on my boss's garden. © 2015 Martel ZeeAuthor's Note
